By the way, my first cut at this blog stated that there were 35,000 off-shore operations in shallow and deep water in the Gulf, a figure that I thought I heard on the Bob Edwards show on SiriusXM yesterday. Wikipedia sets the number at something like 4000, which, to my mind is still enormous.
